Pretty gross, right? Especially if you realize this yucky hole is in the frame of the window in the shower. Holy mold factory, Batman! I've poured bleach directly into it more than once, but I decided it was time to do something a little more permanent. My solution involved lots of caulk, applied in layers over the course of about a week. I also caulked and repainted the entire frame, hoping to keep the wall from falling apart while I still live here. This is the finished product. Much better don't you think? 
I also scraped the massively peeling ceiling and repainted it. It took many coats of paint and a very sore arm but looks a lot better.
